South Padre Island is the jewel of the Texas coast for vacationers from all over the world, but little is know of the abundance of fish and types of fishing on the island. South Padre Island is located in the semi-tropical region of the Gulf of Mexico.
Our geographic location means is popular amongst sport fish typically found off the Texas coast as well as tropical fish that can not be found anywhere along the Texas coast.

Typical bay fishing the Laguna Madre, the only hyper-saline coastal lagoon in North America, is usually the first choice for fishing the island. Having a continuous number of fishing guides for fishing the Laguna Madre this is usually the first choice of visiting fishermen, but there are many other choices to offer.
The Gulf of Mexico has a diverse assortment of fishing tactics for catching much more than just a few species of fish. From going on an offshore charter boat or just fishing off the jetties or surf, it is not out of the ordinary of a person of catch over a dozen different species of fish. You just never know what are going to get.
